Things To Do In Your Backyard This Summer

A portion of this post is sponsored by Social Lite. It shouldn’t need to be said, but I’ll say it anyway – don’t share alcohol with your kids.

While the entire state of Florida has given up on COVID restrictions if you’re anything like me you’re still hesitant to go out into public for gatherings or outings with your kids. For us, that has meant a large amount of time spent in our backyard. We’re fortunate that we have a large yard and can spend lots of time out there. We’ve made a concerted effort to make it as fun as can be for the kids and I think we’ve had some success in this area. So, if you’re looking for things to do in your backyard this summer, look no further!

Games

Obviously games are always a big hit. While Ryker can be entertained with any random ball on the ground, Clara requires some more structured activities. So for games to play in the backyard we’ve come up with:

Two Ball/Ladder Golf

A great game for kids and adults alike! I built my own two ball set out of pvc pipe and golf balls, but you can buy one here as well.

Sports

We’ve got a plethora of different sports to keep the kids entertained from Golf, to baseball and Soccer.

Costco Geo Dome

Geo Dome

I previously wrote about our Geo Dome here, so if you’d like a more in-depth review check that out.

Ours is the Lifetime Geometric Climbing Dome. We got ours from Costco, but you can also order it directly from the Lifetime website. The swing is also from Costco and makes a great and affordable addition. Also, Canadian Tire has a similar one which you can see here.

Lastly, Amazon is always an option. They have the exact same Lifetime one available, but it was so ridiculously priced (almost triple what we paid and almost triple the Canadian Tire one) that I’m not even going to list it here. They do have this Cool Geometric Dome though, that is a bit more expensive than the others, but also has a bit more to it. You can also check out a swing.

Slides

We got our slide for a steal of a deal off of Kijiji, and if you look in your area there’s bound to be deals. But if you like brand new and want to help this little blog out, here’s a link to a similar one on Amazon that will ship right to you.

Pools

How fancy of a pool you want to get is completely up to you and your budget. For us, this kiddy pool was more than enough. Our yard has a pretty annoying slope to it, which is great for ensuring our basement doesn’t flood (so thanks, I guess) but is super annoying for filling a pool. A fun thing we have done is take our slide and put it so it slides into the pool. Both kids love it, and for now, Clara isn’t too big for the fun. It’s also great for the adults to dip their feet into as they enjoy a Social Lite beverage.

Enjoy the Sun with Social Lite

Ultimately, this is what summer is all about. One of our favourite past times outside is sitting and just enjoying the sun on our patio. We love to get a fire going, and while I can’t drink, Dashing Mom has become a big fan of Social Lite original vodka soda drinks.

Their drinks deliver a crisp, clean taste without any sugar, sweetener or artificial ingredients. Their drinks are gluten-free and at only 80 calories per can, it’s the perfect drink for any occasion. You can check out more about them here.
