I’ve been a golfer ever since I was young. It’s a great sport that teaches you so many things. Getting the kids out on the course is a great way to burn energy, get outside, spend time together and teach some valuable life lessons. Calgary has a number of golf courses specifically designed for young kids and beginner golfers. They make a great way to spend time together, especially on a summer evening. Here’s the best golf courses in Calgary for kids.
The Loop – Heritage Pointe
The Loop at Heritage Pointe is a great 3 hole practice facility that features a par 3, 4 and 5. Kids can play it once for $8 or as many times as they’d like for $25. Families can pay $75 to play it as many times as you want.
Lil’ Devil – Blue Devil Golf Course
Lil’ Devil at Blue Devil Golf Course is the perfect 9 hole course to ease your child into playing a full 18. 9 Holes is only $15 for kids, or you can get a seasons pass for $450.
Douglasdale Golf Course
I have a special place in my heart for Douglasdale. I worked there for the better part of 3 seasons and made some life long friends there. Douglasdale golf course is an “executive” course, meaning there are no Par 5’s, only Par 3’s and 4’s. This makes it incredibly approachable for beginners and kids alike. Some of the holes on the back 9 offer a challenge with a gully to clear, but this is a course that can be played for any age of child. Junior rates are $30 for 18 holes.
Golf Future YYC
Formally, Golf Canada Centre, Golf Future YYC is a 9 hole Par 3 course along with driving range and chip and putt course. Junior rates are $17 for 9 holes. This course is great for little kids and great for adults to work on their short game.

McCall Lake Par 3
The McCall Lake Par 3 is a city-owned course dubbed “The Home For Family Golf.” That alone makes it one of the best golf courses in Calgary for kids. McCall Lake underwent renovations in 2018 and has now re-opened to offer a great playing experience for kids, beginners and experienced players alike. Junior rates are $11 or you can go out as a family for $33.
Lakeview Golf Course
The Lakeview golf course is great for slightly older kids that want to get a taste of playing longer holes. A mix of par 3’s and par 4’s and located right by the reservoir you and your kids can play this course for $44 for a family of 4, or $15 for juniors.
