For this Music Monday post I had grand aspirations of posting a more general-public-friendly pop hit that would make you smile and bob your head. Clara likes a lot of these songs and there’s no shortage of ones to pick from.
But then the greatest achievement of my young Dad life happened. Clara started head-banging to this song.
I was so excited I did a little dance. And here’s the thing – I didn’t directly teach her to do this. When songs come on I bob my head or do a little dance as we’re puttering around the house and Clara must have picked up on this (proof that they’re always watching).
I’ve never been more proud.
Jinjer – Pisces
So this week the song is Pisces by Jinjer. Jinjer is a metalcore group out of the Ukraine with one of the most impressive female lead singers I’ve ever heard in a metal band, Tatiana Shmailyuk. The song Pisces was released in 2016 and as I write this, this video has over 5 million views. My only complaint about the band is that they have yet to come to Canada to tour.
While I’m sure there are those that would argue metal music isn’t kid friendly, I assure you that there are no bad lyrics in this song. Frankly, Clara loves this song. We love dancing, giggling and yes, even head-banging to it.
