Heritage Park and The S.S. Moyie

If you’re a frequent reader of the blog, or you follow me on social media (and if you don’t what are you waiting for? Facebook, Insta) you’ll know that Clara and I spent a great deal of time last summer at Heritage Park. It’s truly my favourite place to be in the summer and we have every intention of spending a great deal of time there this summer before baby comes.

This year is even more exciting than last year because the S.S. Moyie is back!

After spending last year in dry dock because of the construction on the Glenmore Reservoir Dam, the S.S. Moyie is back up and running. I’m so excited to take Clara for a ride on it, I think it’s going to blow her little mind.

I wrote last year about how there is tons to do at Heritage Park and this year they’ve really stepped it up.

S.S. Moyie

This year the S.S. Moyie is back and that means that Heritage Park has their Captain’s Cruises returning on select evenings in July and August, with a particularly special cruise on July 9th featuring Matt Masters. They will also have their regular jazz cruises on Thursday evenings from July 18th till August 29th.

This year they will also feature a new breakfast event called Monday Mornings on the Moyie which will feature a continental breakfast right on the Moyie Dock (how friggen cool is that?!) followed by the first sailing of the week.

Other events at Heritage Park

It actually boggles my mind how much work must go into running all of the events at Heritage Park throughout a summer, and this year is no different. They have a family-friendly melodrama this year at the Canmore Opera House that runs every weekend. And if you’ve ever been wandering around the park and seen their street theatre, you’ll be in for a treat this year as it returns.

This year, Heritage Park will also feature some awesome ticketed events like Adult Midway Night on August 9th (perfect date night opportunity!), an Edwardian themed dinner on the Prince House Lawn on July 19th and August 23, Tea on the Verandah of the Famous 5 Centre of Canadian Women ever Sunday in June, July and August as well as the River Forth Dining Car lunches on Tuesdays all summer long.

But if you’re looking for some awesome free things to do around town, Heritage Park has you covered their as well with their free summer concert series returning on Wednesday evenings in July and August from 6-8 pm featuring a different band each night.
