Weekends are a great time to get away from the hassles of the week and spend time with the family. Long weekends are even better as they provide that little extra time to let you recharge your batteries. I’ve written about a number of things that are great to do all the time, like swimming, but for a little extra here are some great things to do with your kids this long weekend in Calgary!*
Heritage Park Opening Weekend
Open from 10 AM to 5 PM Heritage Park kicks off it’s 54th summer season! Enjoy the antique midway, a horse-drawn wagon ride, a train ride or fresh goodies from the bakery.
Callaway Park Opening Weekend
If you and your kids are thrill seekers than there is no better place to go than Callaway Park. This weekend they open for the season, and there’s literally no better place to go for a rollercoaster ride in Calgary!
Victoria Day at Granary Road
Granary Road is relatively new to the Calgary entertainment scene, but it’s making a huge splash. Their market is open all weekend, and their active learning park has so many different things for kids to explore and play on that you’ll be hard pressed to get it all in in one day. Clara and I were recently there and it was awesome!
Harry Potter and The Philosopher Stone in Concert
As I’ve mentioned many times in our Music Monday posts, Clara and I love music. We will certainly be getting her into Harry Potter once she is a little older so what cooler way to combine these two things than checking out the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra as they play the score for the Philosopher Stone while you watch the movie on the big screen!
High River Little Britches Weekend
High River’s Little Britches Weekend kicks off with the Little Britches Parade on Saturday morning at 10 am. This year’s theme is a salute to first responders. This is followed up by a number of other events including a music festival, farmers market and rodeo.
Explore Fish Creek
Fish Creek Park is awesome, and is one of the best things to do with your kids. Explore the pathway system, or jump off of it to explore some awesome areas like the Ice Caves!
*I have not been paid to write about any of these things, I just think they’re really awesome!
